Everyone cites the same five alignment papers, but the field is big enough that good work gets buried. I recently found a short workshop paper on detecting goal misgeneralization in RL agents that reframed how I think about evals. It had like forty citations. What's the hidden gem you'd hand to a new PhD student entering the field?
